Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

He saved four early break points in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
